I love these short stories! They're so much fun. A loving take off of Sherlock Holmes, but also very much their own thing. I love how funny they are, I love what a loose view of morality they take and I love how they never seem to take themselves too seriously. They're just gloriously enjoyable, and such a good comfort read.
Raffles/Bunny - I absolutely adore these two, and the incredibly intense relationship they have. I love how Bunny heo worships Raffles, how he's so loyal and innocent and utterly adoring of everything Raffles does. I love how Raffles is obviously fond of him in return, and takes pleasure in his company and wants him around constantly and obviously cares for him more than anybody else. and I love their relationship, the teasing and the intensity and just how much they need each other. They 're great, and I'd love fic for them!

I ended up reading all the books within a month the first time I read this series. This was unprecedented for me, as while I usually read a lot I tend to be a bit of a butterfly when it comes to reading through a series. I just found these books so incredibly gripping. The cases are really interesting, the setting (with its slightest edge of paranormal stuff) is excellent and I just really love all the characters.
Frey/McGray - Of course I ship the hell out of these two. They just have a dynamic that's absolute catnip to me. They're a historical detective duo, they're forced into close proximity to each other while solving cases, they have a certain amount of loyalty to each other... But at the same time they have an interesting amount of hostility between them, a large amount of mistrust and a lot of things to work through. They obviously care about each other a little while still finding each other incredibly difficult, and I'd LOVE to see more of that.

This is absolutely one of my favourite series, and if you’ve read it I’m sure you know why. Interesting plots, Historical accuracy AND a relationship between the two main characters so endearing that I had to keep putting my copy of the book down to clutch my face with glee. Truly, a dangerous combination.
Avery/Blake - I loved their dynamic in the books, and I really want to see more of it. Especially in a romantic sense. I feel that there’s a hell of a lot of potential for a really interesting romantic relationship there, and I’d absolutely love to see somebody explore that!
My stance on infidelity here is that while I'd rather it not be a thing, I can understand how it could be difficult to avoid and don't want you to tie yourself up in knots over it! I'd prefer it to be something where Helen doesn't appear/never got together with Avery or stated/heavily implied polyamory (in that Helen is fine with it), but as long as it isn't 1000 odd words of Avery angsting over/reveling in cheating on his(/her) wife I should be beyond fine!

OH GOD THIS SERIES. It is so good, and it breaks my heart afresh with every new instalment. Set in 1910s-1920s India it's a massively immersive and interesting series of books. I love the sense of atmosphere, I love the interesting mystery plots and I absolutely love the characters. This is just really gripping from start to finish, really well done and compelling in many ways, and I'd absolutely love to see more of it.
Sam Wyndham/Surenandrath Banerjee - I really ship these two, and have done since about book 2. I love how Sam is so cynical and jaded, but has a really sharp sense of justice that's just really encouraged by Suren. I also love how Suren is really innocent and a bit naive in a lot of ways, but is also really smart and slightly devious and openly encouraged in both of these things by Sam.
I just really love them! They shouldn't be close, they shouldn't really like each other at all, but they just have this really firm bond that's stood up against so many things. I love the loyalty between them, I love the fact that they're able to laugh with each other and I love that they have each other's backs even when the situation is fraught. I also, trying to avoid spoilers, love all the complexity that enters their relationship in book 4 and the way they both react to that. I'd love to see more of them!

I absolutely LOVE this entire series. I adore the vivid sense of setting, I'm fascinated by the mysteries and I LOVE the characters in it. It's just a really amazingly immersive series, and I can't help but get lost in it every single time I pick it up.
Benjamin January/Abishag Shaw - This was probably my earliest pairing in the series, and I still ship them firmly now. I like how they should be on opposite sides, should really mistrust each other, and yet instead have this slightly odd and really sweet relationship with each other. I love how they trust each other (Shaw somewhat more than Ben, admittedly), I love how they frequently seem to amuse each other and I really love how they just seem to get each other in a really compelling way.
My stance on infidelity here is that, due to the nature of my prompts, I'd prefer it to be something where Rose doesn't appear/never got together with Ben.

I just love everything about these books. They're high drama romance novels involving vampires, which should be something that attracts severe side eye, but they're just really enjoyable! Great worldbuilding, absolutely fantastic characters and so much room for porny interpretations. I'd definitely recommend them to anybody who likes vampires and villains.
Benedikte/Costin - I've lowkey shipped these two since I first read the books, and as my shipping of them grows so does my desire to see fic for them. I'm just really interested in how they were such good friends before becoming vampires, and how deep that bond was between them. Costin states within the books that they were basically brothers even before they became vampires, and I can easily see that closeness developing into something more. I'd like to see a happier ending for them, especially Benedikte, and I'd also really love to see how that changes the universe around them.

I like anything that really delves into the physiological damage Kate had on Derek and the severity of it, not only because of the manipulation, statutory rape and killing of his entire family etc but also how it affects him afterwards and every other relationship after etc.
I kind of hand in mind linking this in with Derek Hale/F!Stiles Stilinski…might be interesting to explore how the past relationship with M!Kate affects Derek when meeting Stiles. If Stiles has always been female, what effect does this have? Or if you did it as Stiles temporarily being female...does Derek make a move because it’s easier to do when Stiles is in a body that’s disconnected to Kate’s...does Stiles use magic to turn himself female when they get physical as a stepping stone because Derek can’t otherwise...I don’t know there’s just a lot of deep and dark places that can be played around with and explored and it seems like it would make an interesting story.

I’m so enamored and extremely interested in how the whole dynamic of Merlin’s upbringing has the potential to change dramatically if Balinor had been female and Hunith male, and equally how that would have affected Merlin himself.
When Balinor finds out she’s pregnant what happens? They had to hide because they were being hunted? How would being raised in that environment affected Merlin? Would Balinor have raised him in the woods and taught him all about their dragon lord heritage, assisting with his magic and schooling him etc How would that then effect Merlin when he ventured into Camelot and met Arthur etc Would he have been more powerful. What would he have done when he met Killgaraah etc Would he have gone to Camelot at all? How would he have found this way to becoming the Emrys etc
Equally with Hunith being male would she have even stayed in the village to begin with or would she have followed Balinor (whether or not Balinor fled/didn’t give them a choice etc Would they have gone on a search for them (half of me always imagined that the reason Hunith never did that before was because she had been pregnant with Merlin and therefore had another life to consider etc)
There’s just so many what if’s and places to explore. I really feel like this could make for some really interesting and dynamic story/exploration.

What I love: I love this series, I love the characters, and I just want to spend more time hanging out in the world with them. Florian and Niles might not be as dramatic as some of the other characters, but I like how they're brave and resourceful and competent (and sometimes exasperated by the people around them). I love how sorcerers are like academics and scientists: curious about the world, methodical in their thinking, and occasionally woobie in pushing the limits of their magic to exhaustion.

* Researching a forgotten spell or inventing a new one, or accidentally setting off a magical artefact. Working together to figure out how to reverse the effect.

I love these short stories! They're so much fun. A loving take off of Sherlock Holmes, but also very much their own thing. I love how funny they are, I love what a loose view of morality they take and I love how they never seem to take themselves too seriously. They're just gloriously enjoyable, and such a good comfort read.
Raffles/Bunny - I absolutely adore these two, and the incredibly intense relationship they have. I love how Bunny heo worships Raffles, how he's so loyal and innocent and utterly adoring of everything Raffles does. I love how Raffles is obviously fond of him in return, and takes pleasure in his company and wants him around constantly and obviously cares for him more than anybody else. and I love their relationship, the teasing and the intensity and just how much they need each other. They 're great, and I'd love fic for them!

I ended up reading all the books within a month the first time I read this series. This was unprecedented for me, as while I usually read a lot I tend to be a bit of a butterfly when it comes to reading through a series. I just found these books so incredibly gripping. The cases are really interesting, the setting (with its slightest edge of paranormal stuff) is excellent and I just really love all the characters.
Frey/McGray - Of course I ship the hell out of these two. They just have a dynamic that's absolute catnip to me. They're a historical detective duo, they're forced into close proximity to each other while solving cases, they have a certain amount of loyalty to each other... But at the same time they have an interesting amount of hostility between them, a large amount of mistrust and a lot of things to work through. They obviously care about each other a little while still finding each other incredibly difficult, and I'd LOVE to see more of that.

This is absolutely one of my favourite series, and if you’ve read it I’m sure you know why. Interesting plots, Historical accuracy AND a relationship between the two main characters so endearing that I had to keep putting my copy of the book down to clutch my face with glee. Truly, a dangerous combination.
Avery/Blake - I loved their dynamic in the books, and I really want to see more of it. Especially in a romantic sense. I feel that there’s a hell of a lot of potential for a really interesting romantic relationship there, and I’d absolutely love to see somebody explore that!
My stance on infidelity here is that while I'd rather it not be a thing, I can understand how it could be difficult to avoid and don't want you to tie yourself up in knots over it! I'd prefer it to be something where Helen doesn't appear/never got together with Avery or stated/heavily implied polyamory (in that Helen is fine with it), but as long as it isn't 1000 odd words of Avery angsting over/reveling in cheating on his(/her) wife I should be beyond fine!

OH GOD THIS SERIES. It is so good, and it breaks my heart afresh with every new instalment. Set in 1910s-1920s India it's a massively immersive and interesting series of books. I love the sense of atmosphere, I love the interesting mystery plots and I absolutely love the characters. This is just really gripping from start to finish, really well done and compelling in many ways, and I'd absolutely love to see more of it.
Sam Wyndham/Surenandrath Banerjee - I really ship these two, and have done since about book 2. I love how Sam is so cynical and jaded, but has a really sharp sense of justice that's just really encouraged by Suren. I also love how Suren is really innocent and a bit naive in a lot of ways, but is also really smart and slightly devious and openly encouraged in both of these things by Sam.
I just really love them! They shouldn't be close, they shouldn't really like each other at all, but they just have this really firm bond that's stood up against so many things. I love the loyalty between them, I love the fact that they're able to laugh with each other and I love that they have each other's backs even when the situation is fraught. I also, trying to avoid spoilers, love all the complexity that enters their relationship in book 4 and the way they both react to that. I'd love to see more of them!

I absolutely LOVE this entire series. I adore the vivid sense of setting, I'm fascinated by the mysteries and I LOVE the characters in it. It's just a really amazingly immersive series, and I can't help but get lost in it every single time I pick it up.
Benjamin January/Abishag Shaw - This was probably my earliest pairing in the series, and I still ship them firmly now. I like how they should be on opposite sides, should really mistrust each other, and yet instead have this slightly odd and really sweet relationship with each other. I love how they trust each other (Shaw somewhat more than Ben, admittedly), I love how they frequently seem to amuse each other and I really love how they just seem to get each other in a really compelling way.
My stance on infidelity here is that, due to the nature of my prompts, I'd prefer it to be something where Rose doesn't appear/never got together with Ben.

I just love everything about these books. They're high drama romance novels involving vampires, which should be something that attracts severe side eye, but they're just really enjoyable! Great worldbuilding, absolutely fantastic characters and so much room for porny interpretations. I'd definitely recommend them to anybody who likes vampires and villains.
Benedikte/Costin - I've lowkey shipped these two since I first read the books, and as my shipping of them grows so does my desire to see fic for them. I'm just really interested in how they were such good friends before becoming vampires, and how deep that bond was between them. Costin states within the books that they were basically brothers even before they became vampires, and I can easily see that closeness developing into something more. I'd like to see a happier ending for them, especially Benedikte, and I'd also really love to see how that changes the universe around them.

I kind of hand in mind linking this in with Derek Hale/F!Stiles Stilinski…might be interesting to explore how the past relationship with M!Kate affects Derek when meeting Stiles. If Stiles has always been female, what effect does this have? Or if you did it as Stiles temporarily being female...does Derek make a move because it’s easier to do when Stiles is in a body that’s disconnected to Kate’s...does Stiles use magic to turn himself female when they get physical as a stepping stone because Derek can’t otherwise...I don’t know there’s just a lot of deep and dark places that can be played around with and explored and it seems like it would make an interesting story.

I’m so enamored and extremely interested in how the whole dynamic of Merlin’s upbringing has the potential to change dramatically if Balinor had been female and Hunith male, and equally how that would have affected Merlin himself.
When Balinor finds out she’s pregnant what happens? They had to hide because they were being hunted? How would being raised in that environment affected Merlin? Would Balinor have raised him in the woods and taught him all about their dragon lord heritage, assisting with his magic and schooling him etc How would that then effect Merlin when he ventured into Camelot and met Arthur etc Would he have been more powerful. What would he have done when he met Killgaraah etc Would he have gone to Camelot at all? How would he have found this way to becoming the Emrys etc
Equally with Hunith being male would she have even stayed in the village to begin with or would she have followed Balinor (whether or not Balinor fled/didn’t give them a choice etc Would they have gone on a search for them (half of me always imagined that the reason Hunith never did that before was because she had been pregnant with Merlin and therefore had another life to consider etc)
There’s just so many what if’s and places to explore. I really feel like this could make for some really interesting and dynamic story/exploration.

What I love: I love this series, I love the characters, and I just want to spend more time hanging out in the world with them. Florian and Niles might not be as dramatic as some of the other characters, but I like how they're brave and resourceful and competent (and sometimes exasperated by the people around them). I love how sorcerers are like academics and scientists: curious about the world, methodical in their thinking, and occasionally woobie in pushing the limits of their magic to exhaustion.
Prompts:
* Researching a forgotten spell or inventing a new one, or accidentally setting off a magical artefact. Working together to figure out how to reverse the effect.
* Alternatively, shrugging their shoulders and getting on with life, trusting the effect will wear off. They just rock up to everything as usual, while their friends all do double takes.
* Going undercover in disguise for a mission. Or the god of Cineth transforms them for some mysterious purpose of its own.

• Similarly, f!Richard slowly realizing f!Sam is not as utterly terrifying as she seemed when they met in the tunnel, and f!Sam being protective of her, and then they eventually fall in love.
